About Gwenmor

Over 70 years and 4 generations

The marine contracting business was founded in 1946 by George Edward McGugan, and Gwenmor Marina was named after his wife Gwendolyn Morgan (McGugan) in 1969. His son "Sandy" took over the reins and today, Gwenmor Marina and Gwenmor Marine Contracting continues to be successfully operated by his children and grandchildren.

Our Reputation

Gwenmor was built on the premise that personalized service and dedication to quality is the heart of a strong business. While our marina is what most people see, our marine contracting business has been the cornerstone of growth and of our long-standing reputation for honesty and quality workmanship.

Our marina sits quietly at the Mystic River's entrance to downtown and includes a wide range of services to both local boaters and out-of-towners. Because of our reputation as a well-kept, comfortable marina, we tend to be pre-booked for the Summer by Spring, but we encourage you to give us a call and find out if a slip is available (860) 536-0281.

Our service department includes premier engine repair, fiberglass services, and marine surveying. We welcome short-term vacationers as well as those seeking summer slips and winter storage.

marina amenities

Conveniently located

We are located in the heart of Historic Mystic Connecticut, in the well-protected harbor on the Mystic River, so our marina is a perfect launching pad for day trips and cruising Long Island and Block Island Sounds. We are also walking distance from the Mystic Depot which offers Amtrak service up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Our location provides our clients with all they may need within a short walk or drive as well as protection from stormy summer days off the Long Island Sound.

Modern conveniences

Our clients can appreciate our ever-ready Marine Travelift, the floating docks to 25 feet, with 30 and 50 amp electrical service, cable TV, broadband and unbelievably clean restrooms - and we also offer wireless broadband Internet access if you wish.

Known for our small community feel, our knowledgeable staff is always available to help you adapt to your new, temporary surroundings. Our store is fully stocked for nearly every boating need, and our service department boasts the largest precision Mercury parts in the area with certified master technicians on hand.

Transient Slip Availability

We appreciate those who have the freedom to navigate the waterways up and down the coast, stopping here and there for  a night or two to stock up, see the sites and move on. BUT, we book out quickly with out seasonal renters and have limited transient availability, typically for no more than 2 days, unless your circumstances require a longer stay. Please check with the office regularly, as we may be able to accommodate your extended stay whether you are already here or are on your way.

Both our North and South Docks are fully redesigned for the 2023 boating season.
Welcome back!
